MNeveragain Town Hall: Preventing Gun Violence

Students from the group #MNeverAgain are making their voices heard on the issue of gun safety. These students, many of which are from Sibley High and other local schools, organized and led a town hall forum with local elected officials.  Senator Matt Klein, Representative Rick Hansen, Senator Jim Carlson and reps from Sen. Amy Klobachar and Sen. Tina Smith’s office were present.  As Representative Jason Lewis and Representative Regina Barr were not in attendance, candidates Angie Craig and Ruth Richardson joined in on the panel.  All questions were from and by students and though the discussion on this complex issue wasn’t always easy, it was respectful and on point.  Many students attended as well as adult allies from the community.  Kudos to these students for reminding us all of our civic responsibility to hold our elected officials accountable for listening and acting on our concerns.
